Local authorities

Around three-quarters of people with dementia live at home. Wmo aids and services, such as day centres, social work and support for informal carers, help to make this possible. Local authorities play a key role in this: they act as the point of contact for this support and are responsible for approving new aids and services.

Local authorities are key stakeholders when it comes to implementing research findings in the field of (medical) aids, support and wellbeing. In addition, local authorities often contribute to implementation processes, whether through funding, man-hours or the use of their network.

For many local authorities, Movisie acts as a strategic partner, helping them to improve access to the welfare and social services sector. Alzheimer Nederland employs many volunteer advocates and has therefore mapped out the dementia policies of all local authorities.
