Nivel

Stichting Het Nivel is the Dutch research institute for healthcare research. Nivel’s research ultimately revolves around the question: how can we improve patient care? Nivel positions itself explicitly at the interface between science, policy and practice. As well as delivering substantive results, this approach also yields practical recommendations for policy and practice, including in the field of dementia care.

Collaboration with healthcare decision-makers

Nivel carries out a great deal of work for and in collaboration with so-called ‘healthcare decision-makers’: policymakers, sector organisations, and patient and healthcare organisations.

Dementia Monitor: Informal Carers

Since 2013, Nivel and Alzheimer Nederland have been conducting a biennial questionnaire survey among informal carers: the Dementia Monitor for Informal Carers. In addition to the monitor, other research into dementia is also being carried out. For example, Nivel – in collaboration with Amsterdam UMC and Inholland University of Applied Sciences – produced educational videos on managing dementia, for the training of nurses and other healthcare professionals.
