Working visit & Public Affairs workshop

DEMPACT, in collaboration with ABOARD, is organising a working visit on public affairs (PA), together with the PA consultancy Van Oort & Van Oort. This working visit is aimed at dementia researchers, particularly PhD students.
Van Oort & Van Oort helps organisations to influence policy and politics. The agency provides support with strategy, communication and liaising with policymakers. Alzheimer Nederland sometimes collaborates with this agency to raise awareness of dementia care, research and support for informal carers. It is very common for civil society organisations to engage such expertise to advocate for their interests more effectively.
But how does this work in practice? And how can it benefit your dementia research or research proposal? That is the focus of this working visit.

- 13:00 Introduction | Anne de Boer (Alzheimer Nederland) will tell you about career opportunities in research and public affairs
- 13:30 Deep dive into public affairs | Sander Kisteman (Van Oort & Van Oort) will discuss, amongst other things, what lobbying actually involves, who the key stakeholders are, and what constitutes strategically astute lobbying opportunities.
