Working visit to Odensehuis & Maastricht City Council

23 & 24 November 2026 | Full day | Valkenburg aan de Geul & Maastricht

During this two-day working visit, you will visit Odensehuis in Valkenburg aan de Geul, meet with representatives from Maastricht City Council and be inspired by a symposium on regional dementia-friendly projects. The working visit will teach you more about day-to-day situations in various dementia care settings. Understanding these situations is important if you intend to apply research findings in practice.

  • Afterwards, you will receive a certificate of attendance if you wish.
  • The programme (conducted in Dutch) is organised by DEMPACT and includes lunches, dinner and drinks.
  • Travel costs and any accommodation are at your own expense.

Please register by email by 11 October at the latest (see below)! You are at liberty to attend 1 of both days.

Monday – Odensehuis, Valkenburg aan de Geul

11:30–12:30 Welcome, introduction to Odensehuis & guided tour of Odensehuis

12:30–13:30 Lunch in the visitors’ lounge

13:30–15:00 Round-table discussion with Odensehuis & conversation with a person with lived experience and a carer

15:00–15:30 Closing remarks

15:30–16:30 Nature walk

16:30–18:30 Networking dinner

Tuesday – Maastricht City Council

Location: De Rink, Zoetmanstraat 75, 6217 NT Maastricht

09:00 Doors open

09:30–12:00 A look behind the scenes – how are policy, care and welfare organised in the Municipality of Maastricht? How does the municipality collaborate with welfare, care and volunteers? Researchers will also present developments in dementia prevention. The discussion will cover implementation pathways and challenges: what do local authorities need from researchers, and vice versa?

12:00–13:30 Lunch with a presentation by the International Women’s Group of the Nour Foundation

14:00–16:00 Inspirational symposium, featuring real-life stories from the region about the Dementia Care Standard, the ‘We Are the Medicine’ campaign, and initiatives from various organisations.

16:00–16:30 Reflection

16:30–17:00 Networking drinks
