Working visit BPSD (‘D-zep’) Wingerd

DEMPACT, in collaboration with the care organisation De Waalboog, is organising a working visit to the Wingerd unit in Nijmegen. Are you conducting research into very severe challenging behaviour in older people with dementia (D-zep)? And would you like to see your findings put into practice? You are very welcom to sign up.

Wingerd is a treatment and expertise centre for older people with dementia and very severe challenging behaviour (BPSD, ‘D-zep’ in Dutch). This BPSD-unit takes over care and treatment when clients can no longer be supported in their usual place of residence.

Programme

In the first part of the working visit, you will learn how a D-zep department operates, and a psychologist, a doctor and a department manager will talk about their work. The session will also cover where to go if you have an idea or a research question. During the break, there will be an opportunity to take a guided tour. The second part is dedicated to the exchange of knowledge and experiences. How can you set up practice-based research and collaborate effectively? What are the key success factors? Which recent research findings, interventions or working methods are effective and ready for implementation in practice?
